Here is a short historical background of Mr. Burt. My family moved during my high school years with me finally graduating from Peterborough High School (now Conval) in Peterborough, NH. After high school I attended Norwich University in Northfield, VT graduating with a BS degree. Though the main focus of my career has been in education for over 35 years, primarily teaching chemistry and physics, there have been quite a few other opportunities that provided enrichment to the education career. Three summers were spent as a water quality chemist for the State of Vermont. Of particular interest was being part of a team that performed a water quality assessment of the lower half of the Connecticut River, staring at Wilder Dam and continuing to the Massachusetts border. About this time three years were spent as an interim Pastor for the Orange Alliance Church in Orange, VT. Later the entire family spent summers working for over 20 years at Chop Point Camp in Woolwich, ME. In my capacity as an Assistant Director I coordinated planning of the weekly programs for a short time but spent most of my time in charge of food services, making sure that the camp was properly fed for three meals a day and overseeing food needs for away from camp multi day trips. During the school year I spent a few years teaching Introduction to Microcomputers in the evenings through the area vocational school. This experience lead to teaching a similar course through the Community College of Vermont. The need for science instructors at the community college has led me to teach chemistry and physics at the college for about 15 years. A strengthening of my chemistry background has recently been provided by work for over a year as a water quality chemist at a private laboratory. Several years ago I "retired", went through a career change, and took on two part-time teaching positions. One position is in the new discipline of mathematics at Twinfield Union School, Plainfield, VT and the other position teaching higher level science at Websterville Baptist Christian School.
My wife, Pam, and I have been married for over 35 years. Our two children, Jennifer and Jamie, both graduated and from Spaulding High School, Barre, VT and Gordon College, Wenham, MA. Jennifer is a little older than Jamie. Jennifer, her husband, Kurt, and our granddaughter Kyla live in Lynn, MA. Jennifer and Kurt lead an inner-city church, East Coast International Church. Jamie and his wife, Jill Marie, a math teacher at Arcadia High School , CA, live in Covina, CA about thirty miles from Los Angeles, CA. Jamie is the west coast coordinator for InterServe, an organization that seeks to place educators and health care professionals in parts of the world where Christian missionaries are not allowed.
Pam is a fanatic about NCAA football and basketball. Her favorite football team is Notre Dame and basketball team is Duke University. Of course, since Pam is always watching these teams, I show marital support by watching also.
