Friday 3/27 Relating area, circumference, diameter, and radius. Students discover why Pi is the constant which relates these measures of a circle.
Last week's work focused on the area and perimeter of parallelograms. The formula for the area is a=bh.
Wednesday Selected questions from homework section as review/reinforcement
Tuesday 3/11 Creating a family of triangles. Triangle families are triangles that all have the same area.
Monday 3/10 Using the formula A=1/2bh to find area of a triangle. Students will experiment with the three bases and corresponding heights to see if there is an 'easier' one to use.
Friday 3/7 Finding perimeter and area of triangles. Students need to recognize that a triangles area is half of the rectangle that holds it. Also, the long side of a right triangle can only be found by measuring.
Thursday 3/6 finding Area and perimeter of rectangles. Some fixed perimeter problems as well.
Thursday 2/21 Three problems were extra work on area/perimeter.
