A Tribute to Coco Kallis
This is
a letter to honor and to extend a heartfelt tribute to my fellow music educator
Coco Kallis. Coco has been an
inspiration not only to me, but to the many students she has taught over her
years at Twinfield.
I met
Coco fourteen years ago when I began teaching at Twinfield. Since that time I have seen the choral
program become a truly exceptional program in the rural Twinfield setting. She has instilled in many students the
concept that music is a life-long activity that one can enjoy participating in
after high school. She has spent
numerous hours preparing for the wonderful concerts presented at Twinfield, as
well as the many auditions required for acceptance in the District, All State
and New England music festivals.
Her
choral performances have always been a wonderful musical experience to
enjoy. Many challenging and stylistic
compositions were performed by her students, who not only excelled in accurate
performances, but who also and more importantly performed musically. She is not only a professional
musician/educator, but to her fellow teachers, the administrators, and most
importantly to all Twinfield students, Coco is a caring and loving person.
I know
that both Twinfield and I will certainly miss Coco and wish her the best in the
upcoming years. I know that the choral
program will continue, but it will never be quite the same without Coco. As a personal note to Coco, it is hard to
find the words to adequately express my appreciation for your musicality and
supportive friendship. Please know that I wish you the best always.
Take
care of yourself, and let’s keep in touch.
Your
fellow music educator,
Harl
